We know all students are different and have individual needs. Why not meet their individual needs when it comes to classroom seating? I am hoping to accomplish this by implementing flexible seating in my classroom this coming school year. Flexible seating allows the students to choose where/how they sit in the classroom. Some students enjoy working in a traditional desk and chair while others need other options to help them wiggle and move while they work. I currently have very limited and traditional seating options in my classroom for seating. Allowing my students to choose if they have a wobble chair, balance ball, wiggle seats, bouncy bands, or a lap desk will help to meet their individual needs. They will be able to take these items to their desk or choose a spot around the room to help them make an effective learning choice. These products can be used in a variety of ways for years to come. Adding flexible seating to my classroom will help the students have more ownership in our classroom and their learning, be more engaged during class, and encourage positive behavior.
