Being an effective teacher means having the essential supplies needed to support student learning. To our classroom I would like to add a Dry Erase easel to support student learning daily, especially for guided reading groups. A first year teacher needs lots of supplies so that students are better supported daily and through the school year. The easel, expo markers, and calendar would be used to enhance literacy, math, and other subject areas. These supplies would encourage student creativity, independent & group learning, as well as, promote 21st century learning by using more visuals and one on one practice. Due to our class being scheduled for recess very early in the morning -right after lunch- the classroom could benefit from a diffuser to freshen the air. Furthermore, aroma therapy smells could help with stress and anxiety for many students and the teacher. Many parents have purchased the basic supplies for class, therefore asking for more would be an extra expense. Our class would greatly benefit from having more supplies to better support all students throughout the school year, to promote academic success and a pleasant environment.
