These books will help students grow their reading level, which will allow them to be successful in Reading and other academic areas as well, and later on in life. The books that I selected are series books which can let students read each following book in the series more deeply because of the background knowledge they have acquired when reading earlier books. The donated books will further foster a love of reading in my students and make them stronger readers. Second grade is a time of huge growth in reading. For many, second grade is the year when they switch from "learning to read" to "reading to learn."
