This project will enhance my independent reading library by adding more accessible books for my low-level readers. English Language Learners and reluctant readers benefit tremendously from comics and graphic novels. These highly-engaging books will help my students improve visual literacy skills and cultivate a love of reading. Books in this project are titles that my students have asked about repeatedly. Middle school is a formative time where kids begin to construct their identities both individually and academically. It is my hope that these books will shape my students' thinking in both domains. These books will have a direct impact on my students' relationship with literature and school as well as their sense of self and understanding of the world around them.
