Our Health and Business Magnet school does not currently provide a creative outlet for artistic students. There are no classes in the arts available to them. Offering the opportunity for students to take part in the process of a creative activity through sewing will allow them to de-stress, improve mood and cultivate a sense of community. I believe this addition to our Makerspace will promote happiness and well being to our students and allow them to better handle the stressors that teenagers experience. Students will come together in this space during lunch or after school to learn life skills. They will benefit from taking a break from their phones and computers, by immersing themselves in the process of creating simple to complex products on their sewing machines.
