These are books that my students WANT to read! They have become interested in these authors and series through book talks I have done and they are excited to read them on their own. With a waiting list in our library, and trying to order them from other libraries, they are waiting for weeks to enjoy these books! Reading books that they are interested in and excited about, makes for a better reading experience and my students show greater excitement when they pick the books they WANT to read, rather than books they "have" to read. The books are read during independent reading time in class, during school-wide DEAR time, and during study hall. They are used for small group discussion as well as book talks with other students. It is a mission in our middle and high school to make sure all of our students have a book with them at all times and in all places.
