This iPad will make a difference in this student's life because it will allow him to communicate effectively and clearly. A specific communication app called Proloquo2go, which is designed for iPads only, will be downloaded onto it. The features of this device and application meets his specific communication needs. The use of this iPad will enable this student's world to open up and give him a voice. Once the iPad is received, the application will be downloaded and he will use it to communicate throughout his school day. In addition, he will be able to communicate in ways similar to his teenage peers, such as sending messages through email, texts, Facebook, etc. He also can use the iPad to communicate to others in his community. For example, he can take the iPad with him to restaurants and use it to order the food and drinks he would like, completely on his own!
