Having an iPad closer to our books will allow students to use the library catalog more readily to find the books they need. Students tend to come to the circulation desk to ask for help finding a book but we are not always available at the moment to assist due to other classes or students needing help. Sometimes, students will not know how to pull up the catalog on the desktop computers and, if we are unable to assist, will leave instead of checking out the books they need. I don't want students to ever leave the library not getting what they came for; having a station set just for the library catalog can help them to achieve those goals. Placing an iPad on a stand near where students are browsing for books can help them use the library catalog to find titles they are interested in or need for their classes and also help them to become in charge of their own learning. This will further help them to understand the use of a catalog if they have to use a public or college library later in life.
