These books will be used to help integrate learning about the American Revolution and Civil War into our reading. These books will be used in our reading groups to encourage student centered discussions and questioning. My class learns history better through stories, so using realistic historical fiction books like the I Survived book series will help make these two major events in United States history more clear to them while working on their reading and comprehension skills at the same time. Using these kinds of books will allow my students to learn about historical events through an enjoyable story format.
