My early childhood students need tangible materials to manipulate, explore, and create conversations among classmates. All children deserve quality toys to explore, manipulate, and imagine with. Our current building materials have seen better days and are quickly dwindling to nothing. We have a shelf waiting and wanting new materials for young minds. By incorporating a variety of blocks and building materials during play time, I am hoping to spark conversations among my students. Conversations lead to an increase in practicing Speaking and Listening standards, which include taking turns in a conversation and continuing a conversation through multiple exchanges. Exciting new building materials will encourage the English Language Learners to participate in conversations with peers.
