Students need to feel safe at school, but they also need movement. There is a ton of research telling us that many students do not get enough recess or free-movement time in school. Numerous sources, including CNN, Education Week, The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and Edutopia, cite the importance of movement and in school and its positive effects on learning and academic results. Flexible seating allows movements like twisting, bouncing, wobbling, kneeling, and standing so students can feel comfortable in the classroom. If their body is allowed to move, students generally seem to better focus on their academic projects and learning.
