Makerspace allows students to create an environment "where one is only limited by one's imagination." It mixes all aspects of STEM-Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, for the students to use their imagination for an exploration of "what if" through play and experimentation. Currently my students don't have the tools or a comfortable place for open-ended exploration. Makerspace in my classroom would be a perfect catalyst for my students to gather to create, invent, tinker, explore, and discover. This would allow students to easily pair up with each other and in small groups in a collaborative learning environment to make and create something unique and develop problem solving skills in the real world. Makerspaces are ideal for teaching 21st century skills such as collaboration and teamwork, creativity and imagination, critical thinking and problem solving. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them comfortable seating options as they explore and create and dream of new ideas. The wobble stools and cushions will allow for comfortable seating as the students create projects in different parts of the room. The Legos, magnets, building blocks, rubber bands, tape, circuit boards, and books are the foundation for kids to have the freedom to explore their own interests and come up with their own projects that they would like to create. Students direct their own learning by exploring topics that they need to learn about to make their project a success. By providing a variety of materials my students can create something unique that will help them be life long explorers.
