Our literacy library is void of anything at all. I am a new kindergarten teacher coming into a new room in the middle of the year. My kiddos are thirsty to learn and read, and explore all that reading has to offer. After the current teacher left, all the books were gone. Reading builds a child's confidence and inspires them to greatness. I believe that this first year is the foundation that has a lasting impact on learning as a whole. Watching them look at books and turn the pages as they retell stories from the pages is so exciting! I actually heard a student say, "We are reading!" He said it with such enthusiasm and hope in his eyes, and I just wished I had more to offer him in my library. My students have centers that they attend daily and each are envious of the reading stations. I hope by adding to our class library, I can foster a love of reading and hone their skills.
