Books, books, and more books is what we need to help us soar with our love for reading. These books will be used to engage students during our classroom Guided Reading Station. This is the time that we work in small groups to read together and dig deeper into a story with a purpose. These groups are leveled by reading fluency and comprehension abilities. Every week our classroom has a skill that we are working towards mastering, these books will support the learning of my students by building knowledge, providing information, and building new vocabulary. We need a set of books that all groups will share in common so we can expand our conversations from our small Guided Reading groups into the larger whole group lessons. Increasing fluency and comprehension in First Grade is a monumental task!
