My favorite way to teach, reinforce, and engage in context is through literature. I love watching students learn while talking about books starting with the cover---What do they think the story is about? What exciting events do they predict? What could be a big problem for the characters? Then we read and wonder and laugh, all while I ask questions, discuss new vocabulary, target concepts like similarities and differences, past and present verbs, complex sentences, and more! Finally, we retell the story together, use story grammar/markers, talk and write about all we've learned and remember or discuss our favorite parts all over again... So FUN!
