Our students rotate in centers. The reading center supports the shared reading that is done as well as a read aloud books. The listening centers offers students another opportunity to hear the book and also hear how a story book is read. By reading along, students have more exposure to sight words that they are currently studying, but also listen to how readers have prosody and fluency in their reading. We have been limited as to the type of books we can have them listen to since we only have cassettes. The new and updated listening center will give us more variety since most audio books are now on CDs or can be downloaded. I believe in flexible seating for students which allows readers to be more comfortable in order to better focus on their reading. Having these scoops seats will provide a better learning environment for students and will also provide further motivation to open up a book.
