Most of my students need to improve their reading and writing skills. There are ways of teaching such as guided reading and many other strategies for reading intervention. Another effective way of teaching reading and writing is the practice of encoding and decoding via technology. An effective way of teaching encoding and decoding is through tablet technology. This year I am focusing on letters and sounds for my newcomers to develop phonological awareness. The students need the use of Amazon Fire tablet technology to recognize the letter, associate the sound of the letter, and understand how the letter sounds work together to make words. Furthermore, tablets would work perfectly as teaching devices for phonic instruction. As an educator, I believe we should focus more on phonics instruction and less on the language as a whole, especially for our ELL newcomers. This technology will not only help their comprehension, but also help with fluency.
