In first grade, students are beginning to learn how to read. Teaching students to love and enjoy reading is very important at this stage. This project, which funds a classroom radio and classroom set of headphones, will help me to teach students to love and enjoy reading. Each day, my students engage in ELA stations. I would love to have a listening station where students get to listen and follow along to a story. This project will help them to develop and understand how reading should sound; the rate and prosody. By listening to stories, students will also develop their academic vocabulary as well as comprehension strategies.
