With the ever growing amount of technology in the classroom, there are endless ways students can use technology to be successful in school. We work on google classroom and often watch videos or simulations to help bring the topics to life. I also find great success with "read to me" programs to help my struggling readers. Science gets too frustrating to be fun when students struggle to read scientific text. Although we work on our reading skills throughout the year, during classwork I like to give my students the option of listening to the text to help develop their understanding. Many students, especially those with learning disabilities, find this to be a very helpful way to get the same content from the text without getting stuck on new, big, scary words. Unfortunately, the set of headphones we have are shared between 4 classrooms. All four of the classrooms use a large amount of technology and often I am left with only a pair or two of headphones which is just not enough. A class set of headphones would make a HUGE difference for us. On days where we have to share the headphones it is very easy to get off task and distracted because there are so many computers playing different sounds. A class set will help us focus and be successful!
