My repeat freshmen class would gain a lot of real life education from reading the novel. I feel like they would see themselves in Hannah Baker and her "friends." Reading a book like this could possibly give them a more empathetic perception of depression, suicide, and quiet basically how bullying is perceived differently to all those involved. It could save their lives or their friend's life. It could simply make them more kinder. It could help them stand up for themselves or others. In addition, my students love to read a good book. Some do not always believe there is a such thing..a good book. I hope that my students might read this book and look harder for other books for pure entertainment as they grow into adults.
