My students begin arriving to the classroom at 7:30 in the morning. I don't want them to sit and do paper work while waiting for the others to arrive. I would like to create morning tubs of manipulatives that will have my students excited to get to school and begin creating. Manipulatives are the building blocks of math and science. Old fashioned Tinker Toys have spools and rods that allow the student to build anything his/her imagination desires. Magnetic blocks teach kid's about magnets, as well as giving them the opportunity to engineer 3 D objects. Brain Flakes teach spatial thinking and creativity. All of these manipulatives help students have a better understanding of size, shapes, length and height. They help with decision making and keep the young mind active; all the while learning through play!
