Having a listening center in my classroom, will open doors for my students, who struggle on a daily basis with reading. Providing my students with books on CDs will not only allow them to hear different models of fluency, but also allow them to be introduced to books above their reading levels. Having a listening center in the classroom will allow my students to be transported through the world of literature, even if the books are at a higher reading level. With the use of a headphone set used in conjunction with book and CD sets, my fifth grade students can engage in a listening center to reinforce listening skills. Providing a listening center for my students will help keep students engaged while reading and help develop the love of reading. This listening centers will allow students who think that they can't read a book because it is too hard, to access a wide variety of different books.
