This year our class was given a kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, and kitchen sink. The students will practice functional skills in the kitchen that include measuring, mixing, pouring, baking, and other cooking skills. They will be able to cook their own favorite recipes. These tools will help them practice and prepare for adult life. My students are excited about the new kitchen and being able to cook and follow different recipes. Once we receive these kitchen items, they will be able to practice the things that they have watched on the videos and on their worksheets. They have been learning about measurement and how to read recipes. They have learned about measuring table spoons and teaspoons. The items in this project will be used to measure the ingredients. Once they measure them, they will use the food scrapers, spatulas, and tongs to mix and serve their own food. Some of the recipes we will bake will be cakes, rice krispy treats, and pizza.
