We want to provide our students with experiences in science, history, arts, and culture found around the world. Several of our classes have collaborated and purchased the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset. It’s important to us that students have access to technology that could facilitate their learning beyond the classroom. VR is an engaging way to understand static science diagrams that fail to capture a student's imagination. VR Education has a bright future and it has been proven that some material is easier to learn when it is visualized and the learner is able to interact with it and manipulate variables. VR Educational programs are vast in subjects and highly engaging. We have purchased a computer and Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset. However, we need a display monitor and mouse that meets the requirement to run the Oculus Rift headset. As an instructor, I will be using the Oculus Rift to provide short, structured lessons to support instruction. Students will use the virtual environment as a training tool to learn how to practice and refine a skill. We will use virtual environments, like Minecraft and Second Life, in which students create things adhering to prescriptive rules of user behavior and also Virtual Reality for Education, conducive to deeper, more creative learning.
