The idea is that every student has a different learning style, and as their teacher I want to empower each student to choose which seat in our classroom best meets their needs. The power of choice with students is huge. When they feel like they are active members of their learning, they can achieve anything. I want students to have multiple seating options throughout the day. They will no longer be subjected to sitting on a chair at a desk while they learn. Desks are still an option for those who prefer them but not all of my kiddos can be the best that they can be while constantly sitting in the same position. Some specific items I am hoping to inquire are wobble seats to use at tables or desks. These seats are great for my students that need consistent movement to occupy their busy brains and allow them to focus on the task in front of them. These seats allow the students to move their bodies in circles, back and forth or side to side all while still remaining seated. Another item I am requesting are bean bag chairs. I have some students that work best by laying on their stomachs and a bean bag will be be more comfortable for that position versus the floor. Lap desks are also vital for flexible seating in the classroom because it allows the students to have a hard surface to work on without having to be seated at a desk. I am so looking forward to tailoring our classroom learning environment to meet every child’s needs.
