The materials requested will be used during whole classroom, small group, and individual counseling support. The books will be used during whole class lessons on emotion identification and other social-emotional topics. I like to use books to increase literacy while working on social-emotional topics. The board games will be used with students in a small group setting. The games focus on taking the time to think before reacting and emotional regulation. Games also reinforce team work, cooperation, sharing, and sportsmanship.
The emotional dice will be used with whole classes and small groups as an activity icebreaker. The dice give students an opportunity to relate emotions and real-life experiences. The dice will also allow for students to connect with one another as they share with one another. The art supplies and fidgets are for when students are experiencing an emotional situation and just need to get the energy out. I often have students that come to me because they just need a moment to gather their thoughts and feelings. Art is another way for my students to express themselves if they don’t feel like talking in that moment.
By funding this project, you will be supporting my students’ emotional growth. These materials will be used to help them recognize emotions, what triggers their emotions, and positive ways to cope with those emotions. Positive coping skills are essential to a positive academic experience
