These books will help my students have more resources for independent reading and literature circle choices. They will give my students a variety of different perspectives that they may not see in their classrooms, and take them to different places they never thought imaginable! Our school has a 50 book challenge so this will help them achieve and move beyond their goal! The number of minutes students read per day has a direct impact on their comprehension and on their scores on standardized tests. I know giving them these books will make them read more and open the doors to even more novels and authors they never knew before.
