Whether you’re looking at sharing new cultures, historical time periods, or just an understanding of life circumstances outside their own, a good novel study can be the key to opening the door to understanding. Using the text "The Tiger Rising" will allow my students to engage in deep conversation about the many themes of life such as friendship, death, and freedom during literature circles and class discussions. As they dive into the plot of this novel, they will be exposed to the situations, confrontations, and challenges faced by the main characters. All while increasing their levels of accountable talk, academic writing, and reading comprehension!
