My students need AquaVial E.Coli and Coliform Water Test Kit kits and Drinking Water Test Strips, in order to properly apply real world situations to the classroom setting. The materials requested for this project will allow our students to properly test the quality of water after it has filtered through their bioswales. A bioswale is a filtration system composed of natural materials such as gravel, soil, sand, and plant life. They are designed to surround parking lots and city streets to help reduce the level of pollutants in our ground water. Our students will be creating their own miniature bioswales and the use of these testing kits will allow them to experience firsthand how water quality is actually assessed. When this project is completed they will have real world applicable experience and a stronger appreciation of water conservation. They will also feel like scientists!
