My goal as Language Arts teacher is to provide high-quality literature so that my students become readers for life. I teach students from many different backgrounds who do not have books at home. By completing this project, I hope that the students will have a book that they can keep and open them up to more diverse literature. I want my students to be exposed to diverse perspectives and rich literature that they may not otherwise encounter. I think the title selected for this project will encourage students to imagine another's perspective. The more we expose students to diversity in elementary, the more apt they will be to continue selecting these books on their own.
