Anchor charts are a visual reminder of a lesson. Instead of a lesson that is forgotten the next day, teachers create a chart of the lesson with the students and hang them up. The charts are often referred to repeatedly to support student learning and can be interactive with student contributions. The charts "anchor" learning all year long. Not only do they anchor learning, but teachers also use charts to post classroom management and organization. Reading groups, class jobs, and instructions are created together. My students and I build a community together as we gather on the rug and enjoy creating charts together of our lessons.
