My students love using "How To" books to learn about drawing. However, my library is limited to what has been donated or what I can find in thrift stores. I am asking for books including Not a Box, Let's Paint and The Spider Weaver. My younger students in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade would greatly benefit from having some books that show how to draw much simpler images. Also, I don't have any books for students interested in drawing cars or trucks. An art library that students can use as a resource would be greatly valued. The twenty-five different books I've chosen encourage kids to think creatively, independently and with a critical eye. The kids are inspired by the drawings in pictures books. Many of the books foster idea generation and persistence in art creation. They promote a growth mindset where mistakes can be turned into a positive experience.
