Because this is my school's first year implementing a dual language program, we are struggling to secure access to resources to support students' Spanish literacy development. Specifically, we need books that are appropriate for beginning language learners and will get them excited about reading in Spanish! Learning a new language in an immersion environment can be both frustrating and exhilarating, and access to the right bilingual texts will make all the difference. I've carefully chosen books that I believe will pique my students' interest, speak to their lived experiences, and motivate them to take on new challenges in the classroom. These books will allow us to create book clubs, reading partnerships, and literature circles that foster collaboration and spirited exchange. I am confident that a culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate Spanish library will dramatically improve the classroom culture as a whole.
