Operation “Chromezillion” is a project that will enhance my instruction of the state’s Learnzillion Guidebook by allowing each student technology support through Chromebooks. The Chromebooks will be used every day in our ELA classes. The upper-level classes have been using the Chromebooks, but with your donation, the lower-level classes will also have access to the technology. With the transition to Common Core ELA "Learnzillion", students have been given larger, real-world problems that require technology at an earlier age. Utilizing Chromebooks in the 7th grade means that by 8th grade, class time does not need to be spent on how to use technology and research. During this crucial year, the focus can be on learning the next level of ELA. Giving low-income students access to new technology is an investment in their future. My ultimate goal is to close the learning gap and have a classroom that is technology innovated for all learners. All students should be able to enjoy peer relationships, while also engaging in innovative, real world hands on learning. This can become a reality in my ELA classroom, with assisted technology lessons incorporated. With a classroom set of Chromebooks, I will be able to accommodate my students through programs like, “Read-Write” and Google Translation, which will allow students to work as needed and also have the assistance of peers and teachers in a regular classroom setting. My students will also be able to check out Chromebooks to complete homework assignments that correlate with classroom learning.
