My amazing 5th grade students want so badly to challenge themselves and to be successful as learners. With that said, they work best when they are freely able to move around the room so that they are comfortable while they work. I can remember all of the times I was so stiff in my seat as a child and how I tended to focus more on that then the task at hand. My students are the same way. I let them move around the room to work anytime they need to, but we have found that we lack the seating options other than the carpet or the floor. My goal is to make it where each student has a place that they can sit either around the room or at their seat, but with a more comfortable option than their regular chair. The wobble chairs and balance seats would allow students to work at their desk, but also move or bounce as they work in order to keep their brain active and focused. The floor cushions will allow students to work comfortably on the floor or at a low table. I have seen firsthand the benefits of my students being able to work where they are comfortable. They are much more focused and they tend to be more efficient with their work. I can only imagine the benefits that this additional seating will bring. I can't wait to see my students continue to grow, both this year and for years to come with this seating.
