At the beginning of the year, I surveyed my high school students to find out what technical skills they were interested in learning and with great surprise, it was the fine art of watercolors. I have started planning this unit with guided practices to help students explore a variety of techniques. I've realized that the studio lacks proper materials that would help students successfully create watercolors paintings. Having the proper watercolor brushes is important when trying to create different effects such as washes, glazing, blending, laying color and lifting color. Also, having the ability for students to access a high quality product like Auqabord to create their paintings on, is important. This particular product will give the students the ability to make corrections to their painting which is difficult to do with watercolors. The end result is a professional looking watercolor painting with bright, saturated colors and amazing effects.
