There are two main pieces of my daily instruction... The day starts with homeroom. This year, I teach 6th grade homeroom. We focus on cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self-control. We start every morning together and build positive relationships through discussion, activities, and reflection. The other part of my daily instruction is AVID - a class for 7th and 8th grade students with the desire and determination to go to college after high school. While the class focuses on college, career readiness is a large component. These middle school students are being prepped for high school to achieve their dreams later in life.
