These items will help my students see that there is a lot of children's Spanish literature. Often when they go to our school library and they are searching for a specific genre or author, they have a hard time finding it in Spanish. I want them to see that there is good literature in Spanish and that one day if they desire they could even create their own books and be authors themselves. These books will also help me implement the balanced literacy model and teach the desired skills using a good piece of mentor text. I think especially being that it is an authentic piece of Spanish text it makes it more relate able to the students and allows more opportunity for them to make a connection and find interest in reading.
