One of the focusses for our students this year is on their social and emotional well-being. The challenges that they face at home can often impact our classroom environment. It's so important that our students WANT to come to school everyday. It's important that they feel safe and cared for. Creating a positive social and emotional environment is the foundation for everything else that we do. I am requesting funds to purchase a curriculum to help me effectively teach the social and emotional skills that my students need. I am also looking to purchase books containing activities, stories, games and handouts to help my students self-regulate and develop a safe and caring classroom environment. I would also like to purchase a game to help my students develop their mindfulness so that they can improve their coping skills in and out of school. These resources will enable my students to be able to solve their conflicts peacefully. They will be able to think of their classmates as teammates and not rivals. Using these resources my students will be empowered to be the best versions of themselves. I want them to learn the resilience necessary to conquer every challenge that they face. These social and emotional resources are the first step to doing just that.
