These magazines will be utilized in small groups to teach specific reading strategies. Students will also use them to do research and write book reports. They will be able to practice answering questions and looking back for text evidence in the magazines. My students will also be ready to sharpen their comprehension skills as they prepare to take the Florida Standardized Assessment for the first time as 3rd graders. Utilizing the magazines will enhance their enjoyment of reading various non-fiction topics that are presented in a child-friendly manner with lots of colorful photographs. Video clips will also be included with the subscription--this is an added bonus they the students LOVE!
