Genius Hour is a time when my students can explore their passion and discover what interests them. I have seen projects like building Rube Goldberg machines, researching how to make macaroons, learning how to write and publish a book, and making stop-motion movies. Knitting is something that many of my students are interested in, but cannot learn without knitting needles and yarn, which I'm requesting. Knitting has many benefits; it gives the knitter a sense of pride in what they have created, it helps with anxiety and depression, and it can improve math skills (due to counting rows). What better hobby could I help my students develop?
