My students need wobble chairs, wobble cushions, bean bag chairs, and stability balls to provide them constructive and safe ways to use their energy while learning. My students are always excited to be at school each day. They come in full of energy to learn and throughout the day, this energy never fades. I have found that these children are much more productive and remember what they are learning when given opportunities to move throughout the day. Students will be able to move in a constructive and safe ways while doing their work, which will allow for students to spend more time learning and having academic successes and spend less time focused on needing to sit still. Implementing flexible seating allows students to sit in a type of seat that is best for them. It gives students a choice about their seat and when students have choices, they take more ownership of the classroom and their personal decisions. Using alternative seating will help reduce distractions because students will have the opportunity to, and be encouraged to, move around during the day while getting their work done. Children are not all the same and their needs for different seating options are as diverse as each student is.
