A classroom set of ukuleles will guarantee students daily hands-on experiences. Currently the classroom has 5 ukuleles. The class size is 25 students. Twenty students have to watch and wait for their turn. With a full classroom set, lessons will be more effective and efficient. Students contribute their best level of participation when provided with choices that allow them to succeed. Adding ukuleles will expand the classroom inventory from 3 instrument groups (recorders, mallets & percussion) to 4 groups. The ukuleles will be used for daily lessons as well as public performances. They will be optimized by the upper grade levels, but eventually every student in the building will play a ukulele.
