Our students are learning to write personal narratives using pictures to tell their story. It would really help the children better depict themselves if they each had crayons and markers that represented them. When the children are given materials that match their own skin tones they are able to see themselves in their art and in their stories. Like their stories, each of our students are unique and diverse. We are focusing on making sure our illustrations are accurate and details are important in telling our stories. This extends from our free time artwork to our writing and all aspects in between.
