Having iPads available for my students will be invaluable! We currently use an online math problem solving program that the students love. However, due to having only a couple devices, they are only able to use the program once per week. We also have a wonderful online reading intervention program, but again students only get about one turn per week. Having these iPads will allow students more turns on the programs. I have so many ideas for using these iPads, where do I start? In reading, I would love for students to make trailers for books using iMovies. They will write a summary, then record themselves reading it, insert pictures, etc. It's a 21st century version of a book report! In science, students can record data, make graphs, take pictures of experiments, do research, etc. In writing, my below love writers will use speech to text features and be able to focus on the content of their writing rather than the mechanics. We will use google classroom to keep organized and to collaborate, an essential skill for the job market. There are countless apps I could use for math and reading centers. This would allow engaging, yet relevant activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students. My project will make a difference because, as I said before, it is a digital world and students need digital skills! My classroom is not yet at the level technologically to meet my students' needs as learners. Having these iPads will help close that gap.
