The library/media center at school 87 is in need of mobile resources that are leveled to meet the needs of all learners. We are in a unique Pre-K through grade 8 setting and as a librarian I meet all of our students where they are. To best provide leveled texts throughout weekly library classes both in the media center and within individual classrooms a mobile text cart is needed. Students are hungry for texts that meet their interests to better engage them as independent learners. The mobile cart and book bins will be stocked to visit classrooms, and to also highlight engaging texts that hold high interest for students. This project leads into our overall intention to develop lifelong readers through independent book selection. As students gain confidence in their ability to find a best fit book they will naturally begin to engage in self selected reading regularly and for enjoyment. Your help is so appreciated, and greatly needed as we work to reach all of our students from preschool through 8th grade on their journey to becoming well read citizens with a passion for the written word.
