I believe that teaching my kids about world culture will help them appreciate the differences in people and their traditions, especially with some many things going on in our world. I think Scholastic News is a big help and aligns with our weekly lessons. It teaches them to have empathy for other people, to have a voice, and it allows them to express their opinion in so many ways. By having Scholastic News in our 3rd grade classroom, we can learn about important current events happening outside our classroom without even packing our suitcase. A little appreciation goes a long way to my students. My students work so hard and are so determined to learn more about the world and be good citizens.
