The majority of my students are reading below grade level and are in need of literacy intervention. Finding engaging and level appropriate books for these students can make a big difference. I am hoping to provide one class set and several small group sets to my classes for whole and small group instruction. While working with 7th and 8th grade students, I am very focused on building a love of reading and learning that will last in high school and college. Students in my classes are most engaged when they feel appropriately challenged and are interested in their book. Students engaged in reading are experiencing a positive trend in their behavior, as well as an increase in reading test scores. Most importantly, the students in my class are able to use books to find a voice and see themselves as academically minded young people.
