My students are a diverse multi-ethnic group of eager learners from East Harlem, NYC. Most are economically underprivileged students who want and deserve a rigorous and exciting visual arts class. Special needs and ESL (English as a second language) students are mainstreamed into my general ed classes. Students are receptive to new drawing techniques and are starting to realize that they have tremendous potential and talent as artists. We have a wonderful light-filled classroom, but our cupboards are bare! I hope to introduce students to new materials and methods such as painting, printmaking, and sculpture.
