I am exploring the concept of flexible seating in my classroom and am interested in providing my third graders with the opportunity to have some "wiggle room" during the day. I see so many students that struggle with traditional seating throughout the day and want to provide them with an alternative, flexible seating arrangement. I am seeking materials like balance balls in place of traditional chairs, resistance bands to place on traditional chairs, wobble seats that allow students to remain seated but still move and non-traditional stools and soft seats to spread out around the room as they work throughout the day. I am trying to obtain a variety of seating options that are developmentally appropriate as I work to find what works for my unique learners. I will provide my students with the choice of where they sit, learn and work throughout the day in hopes of creating the optimal learning environment. The materials I am requesting will help my students optimize their learning while helping them feel comfortable and at home in our classroom.
